Purpose Drivers

Growing up in inner-city San Diego to immigrant parents that did not speak fluent English, I recognized the value and importance of community involvement and mentorship at an early age. As a student attending Herbert Hoover High School, I was selected as a fellow of the Aaron Price Fellows Program, a nonprofit organization possessing values that deeply resonate with me still today, namely, a desire to understand and get along with all people from diverse backgrounds, a zest for life, a curiosity about the world, and a caring for others. Through my experience as an Aaron Price Fellow, I was exposed to diverse, responsible, and engaged members of society that made clear that a community is not defined by neighborhood or geographic locale, but rather by those individuals who comprise it. Today, as the first generation in my family to attend and graduate college and law school, I am proud to be an Aaron Price alumni and contributor to its statistic of inner-city youth now making a difference in their communities through personal and professional endeavors. The mentors and community members that invested in my opportunities, potential and dreams were truly a catalyst in charting my journey to becoming a nonprofit attorney, empathic advisor, and zealous advocate for those cause-conscious organizations and philanthropists that work tirelessly to create “community” for those populations in which they are dedicated to serving.
